Rather than making 'helpful' suggestions that you have already tried, I would suggest you join one of the Vega owners groups. Back in the day (it's 25 years since I owned my Vega) I belonged to one such group - I think it's morphed into this: American Vega Association . Then you can find owners in your area and maybe find a boat. I know there have been a half dozen or so come up for sale in my area (Canadian Maritimes) over the last few years; no idea what the market is like in B.C.? I would recommend avoiding boats that have been fitted with an outboard - it really doesn't cut it if you sail in the ocean...or the Salish Sea.

It is not difficult to find one in the world. It may be a challenge to find one in the PacificNW or BC waters.

Nostalgia, confidence, value. We owned one many years ago. We used to attend all the Vegatarian Reunions back in the day. I know Chuck and Laura at American Vega Association (although my browser warns me of logging on to the website as it may be compromised). The Vega is an easy boat to single hand and one that my grandchildren can truly enjoy and improve sailing skills on a true sailboat rather than a winabego on the water…Let me know if a good one comes up….
Must have inboard (a beta would be nice), furling, decent sails (loose footed main would be good), basic electronics and generally well found (mast support redone), perhaps tiller auto pilot and / or windvane ….….

I suspect that finding the Vega 27 in ready to explore condition (especially with a BETA engine) might be like searching for a unicorn.
Carl Alberg designed similar boats here in the US about the same time. They have many of the same traditional features as the Vega 27; solid fiberglass hull, 3/4 long keel, narrow beam, crew friendly motion in a seaway.
If an Alberg design is an option you might compare looking for a Pearson Triton 28, a Cape Dory 27, or a Bristol 27.

Actually…way back…i sold my Vega and purchased an Alberg 30…an error on my part as in retrospect I think the Vega a better boat over all…having said that, Carl Alberg is a legend with many fine boats still sailing around the world…
