Hi

I know this is a Vega site, but wondered if someone can point me in
the right direction...

A broker of mine has spoken to me about a couple of Albin 28 (Cirrus).
I can't find any information on the web about this boat.

Does anyone have any basic pointers to information about the boat,
designer - Peter Norlin. Some questions I have include:

1) How many boats were build and how long they were built
2) Is hull solid fiberglass or cored?
3) Is deck balsa cored?
4) Who were major part suppliers for rigging, etc
5) where were boats manufactured?

Hi Rick,

I was wondering if you meant the Albin 28' Cumulus? I don't know much about these boats personally, but the following link may be of some help. I grew up in Gilford and have found the guys at Fay's to be quite helpful with their listings. Some good pictures and information on the boat...

Hi Rick!

From 1978-1984, the Albin made the Albin 78 Cirrus (not 28). It has a lengt of 7.8 m and a bredth of 2.76 m. Weight 2.4 ton and a dephts of 1.49 m. It was suppossed to be more modern than the Vega and attract new buyers. The Cirrus was first manufactured in Kristinehamn, Sweden as the Vega. Later versions was made in Visby. The engine was a Volvo penta MD5/110S (7.5 Hp) until 1983, after that a Yanmar 1GM. The hull is built in singel laminate and the deck in sandwish. Peter Norlin is a very well known Swedish designer of sailing boats with very good sailing ability. The Cirrus has a better poinying ability and is a little bit faster than the Vega (in average 3%). The price is, in Sweden, about 50% higher than for a Vega.

understand some swedish...but will need to brush up on the language!
