I have always had a bilge pump with a automatic switch. This has been problematic on several occasions. The problem is leaks continue for some time unnoticed when if I had known the bilge pump was running I could have addressed the problem immediately. Pumps have always been so quiet the running goes unnoticed. I am sure with all the experience on this board someone has come up with a better system. Give me your ideas and thanks.

high water alarm

You can just wire an alarm into your existing circuit so it will sound whenever your pump is on or you can put in a separate switch with an alarm. Or instead of an alarm you could use a light and put it somewhere you would see it. Google "high water alarm" and you will get a lot of commercial setups. Lots of options.
