You ever install one? Dry fit it stops ~4mm short of flush w/bottom thru hull. Instructions say "tap it". More like smack it. Rubber mallet maybe? Is using the supplied silicone lube what makes it work? I put the thru hull in - boats going in the water Wed. gotta' plug it w/something.

Interestingly, or not, buddy bought Raymarine w/one of these transducers at boat show and they showed him the unit and said not flush with end is correct which flys in the face of supplied instructions which say it does.

I have the DST800, and it is flush. never had the issue you are describing.

I'm guessing it is getting hung up on the self closing check valve which reduces the amount of water that comes in when you pull it to clean it.

Does the plug go in all the way so that it is flush? (you will want the plug in if you are launching with a travel lift with straps)

Mine goes in flush but I always lube with silicone grease before installing. What Blitz said is probably correct

I had the same problem until I used soap to grease it. The silicone that they provide is probably better.

That sounds like nonsense to me, but the first time I installed one, I didn't realize it was recessed that small amount, but it seemed provide speed just the same. It's hard to tell how accurate these things are anyway. It's never accurate from tack to tack and algae interference is always a problem.

Be sure to set your depth offset for the lost 4 mm! ;)
