Airflow in the Cabin

Our Catalina 27 has a case of the black growth throughout the various recesses of the cabin. Poking around the various recesses tracing down wires yesterday produced a whopping allergy induced sinus headache so cleaning out the crud needs to happen before I can really effect some much needed repairs.

Once we scrub it out (with what I haven't figured out yet) I've read that airflow is the key.
For now I hung a 75W work light and am leaving the cabin tossed hoping for a little heat convection. It's occurred to me to mount a couple strategically placed mini DC fans to keep that air flowing while she sits in the slip.

Good idea? Bad idea? Appropriate for this boat or overkill?

There are no cowls on the boat for air to pass through so when she sits idle the air just gets circulated. Is this OK for this boat?

Thanks Stu. The article was helpful. Has anyone actually installed cowls and fans on their Cat27? or will they just get in the way?
