Things to look for if you have not already.....
Hi all, Appreciate any assistance. Aircon issue on Hunter 33 2004 although I suspect same unit used in most similar age models. Noticed only fan operating, not cooling, no discharge overboard. Traced incoming line from sea cock strainer to pump under floor in saloon outside head. Suspect pump not operating. Has anyone had same issue?
Things to look for if you have not already.....
Did you open the raw water sea cock on the intake? Is the above the water line discharge seacock open? Is the pump running before breaker trips? If jess, then is the strainer full? Next check for an air lock. Bleed the system. Another idea I have used to unblock a blockage in the line is to use the water hose at the discharge force water back thru the system. Sometimes I have left everything connected and it cleared the a blockage at the raw water intake and sometimes I have had to disconnect the pump or strainer to flush out a blockage.
What type of pump is it ? In the impeller in the pump head good.
Go step by step. Most times though its an air lock and the pump can not prime its self.
I have a tee valve just after pump on all my a/c unit just for such purpose. I have three units and most times do not loose prime after being out for a sail, but if there is a problem its usually the forward a/c unit because its thru hull pickup is about 20' away.
BTW....... As far as Raw water pumps go never under size always go with the most powerful pump you can afford ..... It as also been my experience that the little giant saltwater pumps are the best and most reliable. My original little giant pump that came with my boat about 12 years ago as been trouble free with almost no maintenance. Original pump head and impeller. And will still suck the chrome off a Buick I always like to say.

While the original pumps that came with my other a/c units all died within the first 8 to 10 months. That goes for the little red teel pump from mermaid and all the red the marsh pumps submersible water cooled or otherwise.
I replaced them with little giants years ago and have not looked back..... I found the best prices can be found online at most salt water aquarium stores sometimes you can even make a score on ebay.
