Does any one have experience or knowledge of this product? Practical Sailor gave it a good rating but I am interested in any actual experience.

Did you read how it works?

There are separate holding tanks, that you have to physically pick up by a handle and carry off board to dispose of. Basically, they are large buckets. Additionally, you have to place a paper liner in the bowl when you plan on generating or depositing solids. For me, I prefer my present system of the use of an electric pump to pump water in and a macerator to grind up and pump out of my bowl. We keep it clean and consequently have no noticeable foul odors on board. When it is full, we go to the marina and unload it. No thanks is my vote on the Air Head! Nice concept though, just more work and hassle than I would want. I guess that this has an advantage over a porta potty however, since both have to be hand hauled off the boat.

My sentiments exactly. Well...almost...

Urine and solids are stored separately. The solids are air dried and eventually turn into something resembling compost. Urine is stored in jugs that unless you're in open ocean at least 3 miles from the nearest point on the whole US coastline--must be carried off the boat and emptied on land. The only advantage I can see to that is, no flush water, so both the solids dessicator and the urine jugs hold a lot more. Otherwise, I can't see that it's much of an improvement over a portapotty. However, that said, the people who have it claim to love it, so who am I to argue?

some advantages

There are more advantages to an airhead toilet. You will eliminate all the plumbing hoses, associated seacocks, holding tanks and all associated odors. Getting rid of the holding tank can give you valuable added storage for a small boat cruiser.
