On my 1987 34 ft hunter, the main has a slight bag that I cant get out by boom adjustment, it needs to be sent in for cleaning and I dont think it is worth it to invest any money in this 15 yr old sail. Has anyone used air force sails? Looking for a source for a new main. I only need a sail for crusing, not into racing. thanks. craig

The price difference on a main was about 400dollars in favor of air force over doyle. You need to compare apples to apples i know, but on the other hand 400 is 400. i will get a few opinions on the dock before i purchase. thanks. craig

Craig: $400/10 years (useful sail life) is not really that much difference. We have discussed this issue numerous times. When you get your prices be sure that you get quotes and the same features including stiching, tread, hardware and most of all the sailcloth. You can get a quote on 8.3 oz cloth and the prices will be much different. Get your quotes the same manufacturer and the make of the cloth. There are a great differences and that can easily be the difference in the cost.

Local guys
Find yourself a reputable, experienced local loft and use those guys. The difference in price for the quality you get from your local loft is more than worth the money. Mail-order sails are like mail-order brides; a lot is left open to interpretation. Re-read Mr. Dion's comments; damn good advice that should be well taken. Good luck.
