We are in Pensacola, Florida and are enjoying our Catalina 22 but it just gets so very hot. If we did a cruise up the coast of FL staying overnight in Marinas along the way, would it be ok to get a small size air conditioner and run it in the cabin overnight? Has anyone done this? I figure we could pick up a small a/c unit from Walmart and be cool and comfortable at night. Would love to hear from anyone that has done this. thanks,

No Problem, Mon!

My friend has a 28' Beneteau. Last year he bought a small window air conditioner from a local discount store. He installed it in his companion way, filled in the gaps around the sides, put a companion way board on top and it worked great. It's light enough to pull out during the day without a hassle and put back in in early evening! Good luck & stay cool!

Keep it cool

I own a Capri 22 in St. Pete, FL and I put a 5000 btu a/c in the companionway when at the dock. It works to well, I think I can make ice. Just kidding. But that is why it has thermostat.

Smallest I could find

5000 btu is the smallest a/c I could find. You could use smaller but I do not think I have ever seen one. During the day it is just fine, cools off quickly. At night it is a little to big.
