I am going to install air conditioning on my 310. Where should I place the unit and where are the vent runs located? Jim

Jim, My air conditioner is installed in the compartment under the "V" berth in front of the water tank. This is the perfect size opening, but the only problem is that you have to listen to it hum all night long. Fortunately that's doesn't bother me. One of the vents blows out of the bulkhead in front of the "V" berth, two come out on each side of the drawers down by the floor, and another comes out from below the starboard settee at the forward end. My thermostat is mounted in the bulkhead, to the far right of the forward cabin door. The only problem with the vent locations is that they don't circulate as much air to the aft berth. It does cool down back there though, and since we sleep in the forward berth it is nice to get the majority of the airflow. Those locations are very easy for routing duct too. Also, if you go to the Catalina310.org sight you'll find an article written by one of the members about how he installed his a.c. It is in the "Maintenance" and "Mainsheet" pages. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with. Mark C-310 Hull #211
