A/C for 28.5

I added a/c this year to my 1988, 28.5. The unit sits under the forward seat, just forward of the compression post. No duct work, one 6" vent out from the unit. Orignally shared raw water intake with engine. During recent bottom job, I added a dedicated thru hull for the a/c. I used an Artic Marine Air unit. I am very pleased with the results.

King Marine A/C

Our 28.5 came equipped (previous owner) with a 9000 btu King Marine A/C unit. It will flat out freeze u-out! It was installed in the area below the companion way step, with more than adequate room. The vent/return was installed on the next step area and has continued to work great (especially in coastal SC - humidity, etc). The intake (H2O) was connected to the raw water intake for the engine, and is supplied by shifting the L-valve for engine/A-C. It is intended for only dock-side use, but is capable of generator source. We have stayed on the boat for a month at a time in wonderful comfort. A 85-90 degree day with hi-humidity is a cinch, and it has worked flawlessly. The overboard is routed thru the head-area sink plumbing, with condensate routed to the bilge via the shower/head slatted flooring. Good luck...cool and comfy in SC....Cappy
