Can someone that owns a 356 with a complete AC system, please e-mail me the make and model of the unit that Hunter installed on their boat? I bought my 2003 two yrs ago and it came completely wired, vented, and with through hull fittings, thermostat, and hoses. I assume the AC unit was cancelled when the boat was being built which I understand is not uncommon. It seems like a plug and play setup if I knew what to plug in. I know it requires at least a 16K btu unit but if someone could tell me what they have installed from Hunter, it would be a great help. my e-mail is undercontrol02@aol.com. Thanks!

I just wish to publicly thank Jerry Clark for his response to my posting. You are a gentleman and scholar! You made my joining huntersowners.com worthwhile. Great sailing!

At least they're consistant! They also installed that unit on my 1997 376 in the same place. It works like a charm and the only complaint is that they squeezed that puppy in so tight that it's damned near impossible to work on it! Also, they must have measured the height with a micronometer since there's absolutely zero 'headroom' between the top of the unit and the bottom of the access panel beneath the seat cushion. The result is that when I sit my fat butt down the panel deflects just enough (a 64th of an inch?) to touch 'something' which creates a harmonic humming vibration sound. If the dog sits there it stays silent <g>!

AC Unit

We have a 1991 model Marine Air 16,000 BTU reverse cycle unit in the main cabin of our P42 and a 9,000 BTU unit in the aft cabin. You did not mention it, but our boat has a Little Giant raw water AC pump and sea water strainer that supplies water to both units for cooling and heating. The nice folks at Marine Air can tell you what all you need to complete the installation. We've been very pleased with their product.

P.S. My hats off to Jerry Clark, too.
