I just wanted to say Ahoy and introduce myself. I will be closing on a new 2002, H260 this Saturday. And I am very excited (to say the least)! This will be my first sailboat. I did alot of sailing with my dad as a kid on the jersy shore. That gives me enough knowledge to be dangerous! This H260 was a left over that the dealer had to sell in order to get the 2003's. I did my home work and I feel I got the better end of the stick! No pun intended! I am interested on hearing from other H260 owners on what they think of their boat and some tricks of the trade, and from people who have done work on their boat themselves. I am a carpenter and can build an entire house from blue print up. But that doesn't mean I know diddle about pulling wires down a mast and thru firberglass hulls. (there not 2x4 walls! eh?) I would like to put in a FM/CD player with speakers in cabin and cockpit, a VHF radio, and would like to install a Raytheon ST60 TriData(wind, speed, and depth). Other than that, I'm just praying for the drough to subside in Colorado so that there will be enough water in the lakes for the Drunkards Dream's maidin voyage this Spring. I am looking forward to hearing from any and all of you. Blue Skies & High Tides...RB

Hi Red Beard, congrats on your new boat...

We're entering our fifth sailing season in the Puget Sound. Started with an H28 and then last year got a bigger boat. Just love being on the water. I end up sailing solo about two thirds of the time so an auto pilot comes in real handy. The other stuff you mentioned, depth, speed, etc., is very important, too. Enjoy your boat. greetings!

Greetings fellow pirate! A good place to mount a radio/cd is in the wall of the head, on the salon side of course. If you go under the sink in the bathroom you will note that you will have enough room to put a radio in the wall on the right and mount it high enough it will be out of the way of anyone sitting on the couch. The body of the radio will be out of the way under the sink, the controls will be at a good height in the salon and your wires can be run to speakers from there. We placed two speakers in the area below the helm cushion and one on each side of the v berth right by the seats. Jay ran the wiring for the inside speakers in the pvc tubing that the water line is in. The outside speaker wiring he ran along the same path as the running lights. Looks great, runs great and everything is nice and neat with aminimum amount of holes, etc. Hope you enjoy sailing. The H260 is a fun little boat and should provide many years of sailing. We also have a nice pattern for hinged companionway doors if you want so you can do away with those boards! Happy sails to You Kathy

Great to have you on board!

Good luck with your boat. I pulled wires up my mast before. I hope yours has a cable trunk. It will make it easier. If not you'll need a good fish tool.
