Hi,

I may need to replace the heat exchanger on my Yanmar
3QM30F and I am looking for a cheaper option than
a yanmar original.

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket
heat exchangers ? Recommended brand ? Do they last ?
Any problems ?

Thanks,

Jules

Seakamp, San Juan Engineering, or Orca Marine are all good in my experience - They are the OEMs for many.

They should last just as long - Get Copper Nickel (CuNi) if you have a choice - they will last a bit longer then the Copper ones.

Before you go to all that expense of 'replacement', even with aftermarket supplied ......

Why not seek out a 'boiler shop', especially if your Hx simply needs tube replacement/repair, etc. and simply get an estimate for such a repair?

Yup, those Hx 'zincs' on the QM engines need constant maintenance replacement.

I highly recommend these guys. I bought a replacement HX from them a couple of years ago for my Westerbeke 21 and saved over $100. They too are OEM.
