Aft water tank leak

Hi all
Has anyone had issues with the act water tank leaking in a 40.5? I've had the issue this summer where the water leaked into the cabin bed. It's bad :(. The tank would empty in about 24 hours. I found out the hard way. I've isolated the tank so it's OK for now. I did a quick visual inspection and could not see anything suspicious without removing the batteries and or the bulkhead.

Wld appreciate your insights if you had a similar issue.

Thanks much

I chased a leak for years. Ultimately, over several episodes, it turned out the cockpit shower would leak from its fittings onto the top of the tank and then over making it seem as if there was a leak from the tank. I ultimately put shut off valves downstream of the shower and now only turn them on when actually using the shower.
Having said that, I assume your tank was leaking when the pressure water was off, so I don't see how it could be that. And, I'm sure you checked the discharge PEX connections. One thing I have done is to use a dry-erase marker around suspect fittings or areas to figure out where a leak as occurring. If all else fails, you're looking at pulling the aft (non-structural) bulkhead to gain access to the tank.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Thanks Rick - I thought the cockpit shower was the culprit at first, but i clearly saw the tank empty on its own (marking levels). I have to check the connexions, i could not get a good look but going do that again. I need to change the bulkhead anyway because it starting to delaminate. Ha a good winter project!
Any suggestion where to replace the tank if it comes to that?

thanks again!

I hate to even talk about winter projects; I have a few on my list. The first place I would check is here with the folks in the site store to see if they have any info re: the supplier. If that's a dead end, then Ronco tanks. There was a thread on replacing that bulkhead. Prowl around in the 40.5 section to see if there is a description there. Good luck!

If your tank is aluminum then it's likely that a company in Perry Florida made it. I have a similar issue. They are still in business and still have the drawings for the tanks they built for Hunter. Are able to build new ones.

MIne was $850 plus shipping.
