Last week I noticed that one ( of two) of the machine screws which hold the aft port mooring cleat to the boat is loose. I assume there is a nut on the inside but the area of attachment inside the hull is fully foamed in. Short of cutting out the foam to get to the nut (to hold it), any recommendations?

cleat

The cleat doesn't have a nut, it is bolted in a threaded plate that is embeded in the mold. First try to retighten. If that doesn't work you may have to drill and tap for the next larger sized bolt.

Thread Locker

If the threads aren't stripped why not try a liquid thread locker that auto parts stores sell. I've used it many times in industrial applications where screws vibrate lose. If it is stripped, drilling and tapping will be necessary as Sean suggests. "Festivity" 1996 H26
