I would like to lead my main halyard aft to the cockpit. I would like to talk to someone who has previous experience rigging a 35' or similar boat. Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

Joe, I believe my O35 is rigged the way you are suggesting. Starting at the foot of the mast, the main halyard goes thru a mast collar block on the starboard side, then to a deck organizer, and finally aft to a rope clutch that is positioned so the the winch on the coach roof can be used if needed to hoist the last couple of feet. (The mast collar blocks that I have came from Garhauer, and that's the only place that I've found to get replacements.) By the way,most of my lines from the mast are routed that same way, including the topping lift, the jib halyard and two lines for reefing. Some are on the starboard side and some on the port. The deck organizers and the rope clutches are for multiple lines. Hope this helps. Ed

over the coaming?
Ed - curious as to just what you did with the lines at the cockpit coaming. I have an OD34 which I believe is the same in regard to this. The main sheet passes thru a little slot and goes under the dodger. Do your additional lines just pass over the top of the coaming or did you create something neater than that?

Attached photo was taken to prepare for fabricating a new board for hanging the lines on the bulkhead. Hope this explains it better. The four lines are, left to right, first reef line, main sheet, main halyard and traveler. (All but the traveler go thru rope clutches.)

My o'day 34 has a notch in the sea hood/cabin top coming on the starboard side. the traveler lines come thru it now but there is room for another line such as the main halyard. You would have to put a block at the base of the mast on the starboard side as Mr Ryan mentioned & run the line thru a deck organizer if you wanted to then to the cabin winch which is aft of the coming notch
