Aft Holding Tank on a Hunter 40

I have a 1985 Hunter 40. The original owner replaced the aft holding tank with a s/s tank located in a new spot (port side under the seating). I have no idea why - but I'm betting there was trouble with the original tank. Problem is: he just capped off the old connections and left the tank. That area has now deteriorated to the point that its damaged the flooring. Basically - that area seems to "hold" a thin layer of water just on top of the old tank and does not drain to bilge. I need to get that old tank out - or at least get it opened enough to install a drain to bilge and clean the area. Has anybody got (hopefully) a picture of the tank in mid-repair?? I'd like to get a clear idea where (and how) I can safely cut into the tank cover without damage to the main structural trusses in the area.

The water collecting on the top of the fiberglass is the problem. Seek that source out.. The old tank should stay sealed. The top of the old tank is in direct contact with the rubber liner and floor plywood. Remember the problem is the water source.
