I am thinking of buying a 1994 Hunter 26. I noticed that the storage compartments behind the aft berth have no covers. Did this model come with compartment doors? If not, did you rig something to serve as doors? Thanks, Carl

no doors

They didn't come with doors. I don't think you'd want to enclose the battery compartment. We stuff extra life jackets in the other one and never thought the lack of doors to be a problem. We've had our 26 since "94 and we love it. Good luck with your purchase.

Consider Airflow

The previous reply is correct. You want to ensure good airflow around your battery. If you want to cover them consider have the covers mounted on stand-offs. They should keep the covers about three inches from the rear bulkhead. The area of the gap (sq. inches) between the cover and the bulkhead needs to closely match the square inches of the opening being covered. You'll have enough airflow and a good looking cover!
