Hello I'm looking for some advise when it comes to a tender for my O'Day 22. We'll be on a mooring most of the time with some anchoring for overnight trips. I've been looking at all the options and it seems that an inflatable or fiberglass boat would be to heavy to tow on a 22 foot boat and everything is too big to stow aboard. Anyone have any expierence with the Seahawk II made by Intex. My thought process is I could buy a inflator pump and inflate it at the car and deflate it when we want to take it with us and inflate it again using the D/C charger. It would also have the added benefit of allowing us to take the tender with us as we don't have a dingy dock to store it on as of yet. Any advise would be appreciated. Don

Two things.

Don't deflate the dink, just tow it behind you with a briddle. The loss of speed should only be about 1/2 knot. You may install a trolling motor with a tractor or motorcycle battery.

Seahawk Dingy Issues

So you don't think an inflatable will create to much drag for a 22 foot O'day? Any thoughts on the Intex Seahawk II is this a glorified pool toy or something useful for me? Don

A hard dink will tow easier behind your 22 footer. We tow a WB 10 behind our C250 and it does great. The hard dinks are much easier to row as well so you don't have to get a motor.

Don't rule out a hard dingy

I use to tow a hard dingy behind my Hunter 22. Hard dingys tow well and you don't have to worry about punching a hole in them when you land on the shore or hit a barnicle.
