Advice when Pulling head on 1989 M-XP25?

I've decided to pull the head to replace a broken lower thermostat flange housing. I've replaced heads on small diesel tractors a long time ago. Does the Universal engine XP25 present any special concerns. I will try to pull the head with the intake manifold attached, but remove the exhaust manifold. I'm hoping to do this in two days pull it, clean up surfaces, mount the flange housing and reinstall the head. Any warning appreciated. I hope the head isn't warped.

Thanks,
Chris

Why remove the exhaust manifold to remove the head, which is further to port? I agree, the intake manifold is to starboard.

Here's something one of our C34 skippers did, way more than what you're planning, but has lots of pictures:

Good luck.

PS As I may have mentioned in one of your previous posts, we have gathered a lot of engine information on our website and have helpful skippers on our C34 forum. We welcome you to join us there, too.
