Peggie-- The recent issue of Practical Sailor reviewed heads and spoke well of the Raritan line. I've read that you also like them. Would you please share your expertise on the differences between the PHII and the Cricket? Also, when replacing a macerator impeller, should it be coated with some kind of grease? Thanks again. Ricky

Use a little baby oil or veg oil on the impeller

Do NOT use Vaseline...pertroleum is harmful to rubber and neoprene. The PH II is a traditional piston/cylinder pump toilet...the pump is beside the bowl. the Cricket has a diaphragm pump located directly below the bowl. Diaphragm pumps have no moving parts, so require virtually no preventive maintenance or rebuilds. In fact, the "repair" kit is the entire pump assembly except for the housing. You'll find complete specs for both on the Raritan website at: http://www.raritaneng.com They're comparably priced, and of equal quality (excellent). You can't go wrong with either one.
