While filling my water tank, I noticed water coming out into the hull under the vberth. So, I know the water is coming from the water tank. The section of the v-berth over the water tank has a panel with many screws holding it down. QUESTION: can I just remove this panel to work on the repair or is there some trick or complication associated with it? QUESTION: Is it possible to just fit a bladder inside that area and forget about the original tank? thanks for any help

Just got done with a similar fix.

Stephen: We just got done with a similar repair on our 1985 H'31. I fought this thing for two years or more. I would get it repaired and it would leak again a few months or a few days later. I finally bit the bullet and had the lid glassed in. This is a very messy project. The gel coat needs to be removed from the area where the lid sits and then you need to do the same to the lid. Then this get laid up with glass tape and re-gel coated to make it look good. We installed two inspection ports for cleaning the tank. If I knew then what I know now, I would have done this from the start. Live and learn (the hard way). Depending on your tank configuration, you may be able to line it with a bladder, but you probably could just put the bladder under the vberth and save a lot of labor. I am not fond of bladders, but for some they are an OKAY solution.

May not be the water tank

My leak was actuallyl from the old water heater, even though the illusion was that it was from the water tank. I replaced the water heater and that did the trick. Use an electric screwdriver to remove all those screws. I stored my boards at home so I can have easy viewing of the water level, without having to guess.

Yes it may not be the tank.

I had water going into my bow and in fact the filler pipe was ruptured.
