Hunter 23.5 Pensacola
Looks like I may be just a week away from getting my Hunter 23.5 into the water to stay. Big question now is bottom paint. The plan right now is that she will stay in the water (Gulf of Mexico near Pensacola). I've read lots of posts about choosing a paint and prepping the hull (no need to do much because it has always been trailered prior to this). So what I'm looking for is someone with actual experience with the new Bottomkote NT by Interlux. The price is great ($89 /gallon) compared to most bottom paint and to be honest that worries me a little. :p Its suppose to be a sort of hybrid.... Any advice or firsthand info would be appreciated.

One word of advise, wash bottom with Acetone real good before you do any sanding to get rid of any mold release that still may be on bottom. I didn't and would be sailing along and see bottom paint peal off in sheets. I had to pull the boat, power washed what little paint remained, used Acetone, resanded, used Acetone, the reapplied bottom paint. Stayed on that time.

Acetone is not recommended for dewaxing a boat. Use a dewaxer designed for the task (202 is Interlux' product). Acetone flashes or evaporates too quickly.
I wrote an article on bottom paints a year ago and it includes NT. You should be able to find the post in the archives. If not, let me know and I will dig it out.
