Allied or Fuji Advice Hello, I have an opportunity to purchase a 1972 Allied 38' Ketch. I have fallen in love with the lines of this vessel. She needs allot of work due to a engine fire but is solid. I do not know much about Allied boats and was hoping anyone can add light to them. The only othe boat I have owned was a Moody 42' - AWESOME Girl she was, unfortunatley a divorce took her from me. Are the Allied good sail boats? My other option is a 35' Fuji "new version" ketch in good condition with in mast rolling furlings ect.. I love the Allied layout as the Fuji offers very little cabin area. Any replies welcome thank you

Made a trip across the Gulf early last summer on a friends new to him Allied 39. A ketch rig. I was impressed with the boat. Because none of us aboard had any experience on this boat, nor with a ketch, we couldn't make it point very high, but some of that may have been our lack of knowldedge with the boat. And not real fast, but this is a very heavily built boat. Other than that I loved it. The boat is easy to handle, sails nice, pretty easy to balance. The roughest water we were in was some 8 footers one night, but it handled that extremely well. Is certainly a heavy well built boat. There are a couple of posters on here who own Allieds, and the will probably be able to add more.

Take the Allied, a well-found yacht. Fuji is prettier but not a real blue water vessel, I've delivered many. Just surveyed an Allied on Saturday; Allied-Wright, should be a plaque with the factory hull number in brass behind the companionway stair. Cheers...;-)
