I also replaced my sails - but as soon as Escape was delivered! When I sell her, she'll have a new set of stock sails....
I have also have a tri radial mylar laminate/vectran scrim main - since I have in-mast furling no battens, but it supports a larger roach than the stock sail so closer in area to the conventional main. I went with a square weave racing cloth (dimension polyant) for the jib, kept the conventional deck clearance for visibility but extended the sail to maximize area. Doyle went back to the jib track and cut a slightly hollow leech to maximize area and maintain an optimal slot when close hauled. It measures out as a 122%. Added a foam luff pad to improve furled shape.Very fast combo, she's really close winded, and I start reducing main at 18-20kts to keep heel in the 10-15 degree range - per Glenn Henderson's recommendation for the 356.
The laminate main is fantastic, keeps perfect shape and has no stretch. I replaced the outhaul with a super low stretch line to keep the sail where I set it.
For downwind we fly a 1300 sq ft asymmetrical and a mylar/pentex scrim 850 sq. ft. code zero.
