I will be replacing my flax packing and would like to replace it with Drip-less moldable packing or the Gore GFO Fiber dripless packing. Has anyone had any experience with either one of these packings? I do not want to go with PSS shaft seal.

Dripless

I just did it on my 28.5. There was a plastic washer beteen the nut and the packing which was a pain to get out. The rest was a basic re-packing job. Can't comment on how well it works yet but others haave been happy with it.

Used it for years

and it works just fine. You have to adjust it occasionally, but it does not drip.

Best buy.

On my third season with drip-less, see the LINK below. Put the boat in the water in April, started her up, put her in gear and saw NO drips. On my H37C I could not get very much of the "putty" between the two flax rings, probably the equivalent of two one-quarter inch packing rings. But it does not drip and the shaft does not get hot. Just had this discussion with a Florida friend two days ago. We agreed, we do not want something back there out of sight that can fail.

Tim, what adjustment is needed

You said it needs to be adjusted periodically. What do you mean?
