Lido 14 Haverhill
Hey Guys, and Gals.

First off, I would like to say hello to everyone from Haverhill, Ma!

I just recently picked up a Lido 14 sailboat and I have some work I need to do on it, and I am looking for some advice.

The previous owner seemed to have given up on this beauty, and here I am picking up his slack. I plan to make a new tiller out of mahogany, and a lot of painting, and buffing.

It looks to me where the boat sat, so did the water (he did not cover it 100% of the time) I was curious on ways to remove the chipped paint, and what would be the best way to refinish it would be.

hopefully pictures work...

You can see a zoomed in first picture, a second picture of the area that I zoomed in with, and the final 3rd picture is where you can see where the water had sat, and caused this damage.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Goomba

It looks like the issue is only with the gel coat,
so it is mainly cosmetic.
I would sand through the gel coat layer with a
sanding disk and soft pad. Then fair the area
with epoxy and Microlight filler, and repaint.

Hey Goomba,
You are the closest sailor to us I have seen on the sight. We are a bit West of you land locked here in Westfield. Good luck with your little boat. We bought ours this spring, put a little work into her and had a great spring and summer with it.

Nice to meet you Jimmy B. exit 42 im guessing, I worked on a house down in that area a couple months back.

Where do you go out sailing? I am only a minute away form the merrimack, but it does not seem deep enough, I have always sailed with friend and they were off plum island.

Goomba,
we are off the pike on xt 3. We have a couple decent lakes/resvs. here. Otis res and Onata and Pontoosuc lake in Pitsfield. We like to head to Onata for day sails. Nice oval lake unobtructed. We are closer to Otis for a quick after work sail. Pontoosuc is 2 miiles from Onata but Onata is nicer. Usually at least 3 or 4 other sailboats which makes it fun.

take care, jmmyb

Thanks Dave,

my only question is, is that kiwigrip comfortable to sit on, and slide your legs and butt on if I have someone wearing a bikini or something?
