Looking for advice on what people think is a good boat in the 20 to 25' range. Looking at O'Day, Catalina, Hunter, and MacGregor. Any other boats that anybody think are a wise choice would be appreciated too. Boat needs to be trailerable because we dont' live on the water and will want to take it to different places such as Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario and New Jersey. Boat will is also gonna be used so looking for reliable older boat. Thanks for your ideas. Dan

Catalina 22

Hello, I vote for Catalina 22. Nice size, weighs about 3200 on trailer. Good carrying capacity. Easy to find (lots made). Essentially unchanged since 1970. Excellent support from aftermarket. Barry

C--22 or T-22

Tanxzer 22's are quite "yachty" little boats, heavier but sail very well and give confidence. They can be found second hand cheaply in S. Ontario where they were built. C-22's are a long way from home there. Edel 565's are good boats, slow but seaworthy. For ease of sailing and selling later on, would not hesitate to recommend the Catalina 22, they sail well, are simple boats, and trailer very well too.

San Juan 23/24

Just purchased a San Juan 23 with fixed keel w/wings. It is one of only 2 made but there are 13 more fixed keel 23's out there. The 24 is a fixed keel boat so there are many more of thouse out there. The idea is to find one that has been taken care of, as they are fast and have a racing following. They have good interior space at the sacrifice of exterior seating. Good head room inside too. Best of luck in your search, may you find a sailboat that fits you. Cheers
