Admiral Control Panel Problem

I have an O'day 34 with a Universal 25XPA. My Admiral control panel gauges have stopped working. My gauge lights, starter button, glow plug button all work. None of my gauges are working and assume they are getting power dur to their lights going on in each gauge. Is central sending unit or fuse that I am missing ? Any info greatly appreciated. I also have seen a few strands of my steering cable are broken, which the Edson Tech people said it is better to just go ahead and replace the chain and cables since the come from Edson in one piece which I believe would be easier to change then just a cable. They have sent me a Youtube instuction video on installation and it looks like I will be cramped in my quarter berth for several hours. But will give me piece of mind having those new parts. Thanks for any help on the gauges,
Frank

Somewhere do you have two breakers that control the panel? It sounds like one of the two is bad.

I have a Universal M25 in the 35. Only the battery switch needs to be on to run the engine and gauges. There may be an in line fuse you should look for. What gauges do you have in the panel? Mine is just temperature and alternator. There is a recommended harness upgrade for the original boat because they used a trailer connector and it is not safe for the high current output from the alternator. http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/universal_wiring_harness_upgrade
Possibly the connector is all corroded?
IF you blew an in line fuse it suggests you have a short to ground somewhere so you will need to fix what caused it.
Otherwise pull off the panel and see if the connections are clean and intact.

Yellow,

Chris & Jibes gave good advice on where to start looking pal.

I have an Admiral pan & looked at the electrical schematic I couldn't remember if there was an inline fuse somewhere.
Except for the control panel breaker & preheat solenoid breaker, it's somewhere in the wiring and/or connections.

I would start at the panel. What I learned over the years are that screw type connectors loosen over time due to vibration and/or corrosion. You may be surprised getting to the rear of your Control & Admiral panels that, screws will be loose & need tightening. I find this throughout the year.

Turn the key to accessory & check for current & signal to your gauges. Hopefully, you have the elect. schematic to use as a check down list. Go thru it & be methodical. You may find that the "gremlin" will rear it's ugly head without too much consternation.

Be sure to let us know what it was.

The lights are probable grounded through the lights switch and the units are all grounded through a common ground. Check the panels common ground for the units.

Gauge Problem

Thank you for the hints. My biggest problem at this time is I live in East Tennessee and my boat is in Cape Coral Florida. We will be full time back in Florida where we were originally from, but for now. We are in The great Smoky Mountains. I really appreciated the quick and helpful feedbacks.
Thanks again, Frank
