Adler/Barbour recharge specs

On my 1996 Catalina 320, I have been running the refrig continuously since I took delivery in December 1996. Recently the compressor is not cyclying on/off and the unit is not very cold (no ice on the evaporator), even at the highest setting. I purchased a recharge kit at an auto store, with a pressure gauge at an auto parts store. The kit is for auto A/C units and the directions call for proper fill pressure to be between 20 - 30 psi. I did add some refrigerant to the recommended psi but the unit still is not cycling on/off and is not very cold. Maybe the pressure is supposed to be something else. Are there any specs available?

Leak

Mike,It appears you have a leak in the system. It needs to be found and repaired. The drier should be changed and the system evacuated B/4 charging. The correct low side running pressure @ 75 degrees (+-)is 9 psi. There's a good technician in Costa Mesa, Lambda Refrigeration, phone 949-642-7967.
