Adjustment of the ratio between prop pitch and throttle setting...?

Hi all, well she is now launched and sat quite happily in the local canal! It all went well and no leaks which is a blessing! Just a question about the throttle.....
I had to motor 50 yards up the canal and discovered that I seem to need a lot of throttle to get the boat to move forward.... it may be me, as I have nothing to compare it with, but I was wondering if this is normal?
The prop does not go to "fully coarse" until the throttle is pretty much wide open.... is there a special way to set up the relationship between pitch and throttle setting? I do remember being very careful about putting it all back together and followed the instructions very carefully.... so I am sure it is right as far as the reassembly is concerned but I am unsure if I should be able to do some "fine tuning".

Just off to sort out all the bits of string and connect the electrical things from the mast now - luckily it is only a 15 min drive away!

ps lost all my photos from Flickr... I had some finger trouble! I have uploaded a few of the launch...

I have just been back to the boat to have another fiddle with the engine. I think I just need reassurance that mine is set up properly....
This is what happens... (boat is tied up!)
When I push the throttle forward the engine revs increase but there is only a "modest" amount of thrust. As I increase the throttle setting to about 75% the engine actually revs about the same (maybe a bit more) - and it feels as if it is working hard and then it is apparent that the boat is straining at the leash and trying to move forward - loads of water being pushed rearwards. If I go to full throttle the engine starts to "labour" and the revs actually drop a little - as if it is stalling - is this normal?

Reverse is the same but I seem to get more reverse thrust with a smaller movement of the throttle lever... I think I should have made a small video.. not sure my description makes sense!
Anyway, thanks in advance for any thoughts.
