Adjusting bolt on alternator - nutless ? H36

Hi -

As part of spring commissioning I was checking the belt and noticed that the adjusting bolt for the alternator seemed to be nutless. See attached photo.

I don't know if this bolt is supposed to have a nut or not ?

The boat is a 2007 H36 with the 3YM30 engine.

Can you guys check your boats and let me know it I am missing a part or not.

Looks to me like the bolt/nut sheared off.

Looks OK to me. The nut is built into the alternator.

Mine has a nut on the back

Thanks for the replies. I believe that there is not supposed to be a nut - I managed to pull up an online service manual for the engine, and the drawings show this as a bolt only - no nut - so I believe it's ok as-is.

Time to change the belt though - lots of dust coming off it and it seems to have too much play - despite the alternator being at its adjustment limit for tensioning the belt.

You CAN get a shorter belt. I started off with a 7400 belt, hit the limit of the adjuster and bought a 7395 belt which works great. 7300 was too short and I couldn't get it on. Universal M25 engine, but the same belt length applies to everyone.

Belt dust? Check your alignment.

I pretty sure for sure should be a bolt on that stud and
will be at my boat tomorrow and will check my 2007
3YM30.

I relooked again and that is the adjusting bracket and the bolt
threads into the alternator and is just as should be and sorry
not looking and thinking what it was and where it was on the
alternator on my first post.

Definitely the way it should be. Mines the same. The belt is Yanmar 119831-42290 A37.5 belt.
