Additional Refridgeration

I cam across an interesting post on a blog I read. They installed a "spill over kit" to make an ice box next to there refer into an extension of the refer. The kit costs $265.

This has me thinking about our C310. There is that dry storage between the refer and the sink. This spill over kit could be installed to make that an additional refer for our boat. Anyone else ever consider this?

Fair winds,

I enjoyed reading the posts about the concept. Using a blower motor to transfer cool air to the spill over box will work but it will use more amps plus your run time for the refer will increase and draw even more amps! If you have the current capability, then go for it! Witzend spotted this also.

There isn't any information available on power consumption on the defender listing. I am curious how this would work compared to add something like and Engel 12 volt fridge/freezer. We are looking to add some additional refer capacity before we head out cruising and thought this might make an interesting option.

Indeed. The little one might just fit in the 270.

Go to www.truckfridge.com as they have the best buys that I know of plus low amp draw. One of them sells for $650 inc shipping, 4.2cf, 2a per hr. Chief
Great info! I bought a Norcold unit like this one last summer for $200 more. It was for my RV, and by the end of the summer, Norcold had shipped me two more units, after the others failed, all under warranty. I wish I had known about the truckfridge!
