I have a 2003 Catalina 28 and want to add refridgeration. Anyone out there who has done this? It is possible to install on the C28?

Convert a cooler box
Adding refirigeration can be accomplished by insulating the *&^%$(*&^ out of an existing cooler box in the galley and then installing a refrigeration kit consisting of a compressor (finding a place to put this is a totally different problem) and the cooling plate into the cooler box space. There are several different cooling plate configurations to choose from., from flat to ell-shaped to square or rectangular tube. The size and shape of your cooler box will determine your best choice. I installed a dual voltage compressor (12v dc / 115V ac) and an ell-shaped plate into a converted box and can freeze water and the occasional soda can (requiring majot cleanup, so dont forget to include a drain hole in the box). Next You need to consider all the electrons you will need to keep your beer cold while away from shore power and where to add the batteries. fair winds Dave

Ice Box Conversion
Doug, The system I have is a NORCOLD -Now sold as the Norcolder SCQT-4497 conversion kit. It is specifically designed for converting an icebox. The only drawback I can attest to in my installation is that the system is not rechargable. You install and connect it once and do it right or you have to start over with a new unit. fair winds & cold drinks Dave
