I have a small holding tank in my system, with a overboard discharge thru a mascerator, and was wondering if it possible to install a lectrasan system after the mascerator to pump-out my 12 gal. holding take in approved areas?
The mascerator is slightly higher than the holding tank, and then leads overboard just above the waterline.
Thanks in advance,

Only one way to do it...

If you're under the mistaken impression that you'd be able to DUMP a tank through the ElectroScan (current version of the Lectra/San), the answer is no. The ElectroSan can only accept about 1 gallon at a time, so to empty a tank through it,you'd need to install both the ElectroScan (current version of the Lectra/San) and Raritan's "Hold 'n' Treat" system, both of which you can read all about here: Raritan Waste Treatment

If you're in waters where it would be legal to empty a tank via the ElectroScan, you're in waters where the discharge of treated waste directly from the ElectroScan is legal. So it seems to me that it would be a whole simpller to just install the ElectroScan with a y-valve in the head discharge line that allows you to flush directly overboard through it except when you're in waters where you're required to hold, which unless you spend a lot of time in the Keys, you'd have to do only rarely...'cuz the Keys and Destin Harbor are the only NDZs on the whole Gulf...and there aren't any federally mandated NDZs in the ICW or anywhere in FL except the Keys on the Atlantic side.

I just wired a Hold and Treat system for a friend of mine. It's a pretty nice setup but I think I'd follow Peggy's advice (of course!) and just use a y-valve. My buddy plans on doing a lot of cruising and wanted to be sure he was legal regardless of the area.
