Adding freshwater faucet to O'Day 25

  1. I am considering adding another faucet to the galley of my O'Day 25. I sail on Lake Superior so the water is clean enough for washing/doing dishes, etc. I'd like to keep the standard water tank fed faucets but add another foot pump & faucet to pull water from the lake. Has anyone done this? Do I need to add another through hull for an inlet? The faucet drain has a through-hull right there but I suspect that may be problematic to use a drain for a inlet also. Thoughts and/or suggestions?

Do you have the water supply through hole for the forward head still? If so maybe a T into this line with a pump and valve. My previous owner actually add an electrical pump on the galley sink, then added a T into the line between the tank and then a hose he would drop overboard to pull fresh water and us to wash down the hull. It's pretty homemade and I'm not really intending to use it anytime soon, plus the install is less then profession to say the least.

I like that idea way better the half baked solution I have inherited, that is on my list to fix and replace now, thanks Jack!

I keep my boat in Buffalo Bay/Red Cliff just north of Bayfield, WI. I do like the Gusher foot pump and I think that is what I am using for my freshwater tank as the hand pumps on the original faucets are marginal. I'll have to look under the sink next time I'm up there to see if there is a good spot for a input through hull.
