I've got a San Juan 21 that collects water....
new cockpit stuff, windows, hatch, etc....
I'd like to add a drain plug similar to the ones the fishing boat guys use...
It's only purpose is to drain water that collects while sitting on the trailer with the hatch closed...

I presume it'll have to be fiberglassed in to prevent other problems with the transom....

Thoughts?

Had an old San Juan 21 once. Under sail I could easily get 2" of water inside the cabin. Most of the water was entering through cracks in the fron of the Keel trunk. Pouring epoxy in the area when the boat was dry helped. Well regarding a drain we put one in in the transom. Drill a hole, epoxy, insert a bronze sleeve and get one of them turn to expand plugs. After getting the boat out of the water I used to tilt the boat up on its trailer by hand and let all the water drain out. Oh, that was a nice sailer, it brings back memories of pumping water out every couple of hours. When at anchor or tied up at a marina it remained pretty dry though.
