Has anyone tried adding extra ballast in the bilge area? I understand that you can add up to two hundred pounds, but I would hate to this and find out it was a big mistake. Any info would be helpful.

yes, you could, but why would you want to??? The 22 (I owned a 1973) will not point any higher, it will not go any faster, it will not be easier to sail. 600 lbs. is MORE than enough to keep the boat standing up in a breeze.

I guess i've gotten such a kick out of pushing my boat right to the edge that I figured the extra weight would make her not quite so tender. I really love the point of heel right before she spins up.
