My issue is that I got a new anchor rode this year...it was a (very expensive) really nice 5/8" 8-plaid rode (soft non-hockling stretchy) with only 15 feet of anchor chain (5/16") -- (I think Acco G4)Other information -- I have a '99 C36 with the Maxwell Windlass RC800 Vertical (rope chain)....So I need something that will work with the windlass...(re: must have same link size).....I do most my anchoring in the NorthEast/Long Island Sound1) What options do I have to extend the anchor chain to work through a rope/chain windlass ?2) Has anyone done this before?3) What would you consider as safe working load for this link?4) I have found a Stainless Steel link....http://www.BosunSupplies.com/products2.cfm?product=S0460..would Stainless Steel pose a problem????...Will this work?5) Would you 'trust' this for my typical anchoring ..ie...no hurricanes ....just want more chain and maybe a little more cantenary effect....but I don't want to lose my anchor....;-) ?(I want an option - short of having a "Master" splicer whip a whole new chain on....this option is not as easy as it seems since these 8 Plait ropes need a VERY skilled marlinspike and I'd rather not have to go that route if I don't have too)
