It's going to be super expensive....

You could start by contacting Edson as the have plans for most sailboats.

I did my own

I went to the salvage places around Salem and got a wheel, Edson pedestal, bought some 5/16" wire, and some Harken pulleys. Used a shortened tiller and it works awesome. I find it a hell of a lot nicer than the tiller. Get the sail trim right, and I can lock the wheel and have lunch. It RULES for docking as well. I have a 1981 H22. There are pics of my boat under H22 pics.

Wheel steering may be a necessary...

evil for larger boats but you have the blessing of having a tiller so why throw it away. A pedestal and wheel will take considerable space from your cockpit not to mention the fabricating of a helm seat behind the wheel. The size of your wheel will also be limited by the cockpit seats. The tiller provides a better feel and allows you to seat on the high or low side as you may prefer. At anchor you just raise it up and out of the way. A tiller system also has less opportunity for breakdowns. Save yourself the money and invest in an upgrade.
