Adding a rope clutch on portside of 1990 Hunter 27

I need to add a rope clutch on the port side of my 1990 Hunter 27. The cabin top has a smooth spot on it, directly across from where the rope clutch is in the starboard side. My question is this, " Is that part of the cabin top reinforced
or will I have to do anything special except mount the unit?"

I have the 1989 model and believe that there is an aluminum plate into the fiberglass. Please let us know what you find.

I have a 1989 Hunter 27 and recently added a rope clutch on the port side plate as you describe. There is an embedded aluminum plate that allows secure drilling, tapping, and mounting with machine screws and suitable sealant. The installation worked very well.
