Adding a pedestal guard..

Has anyone added an Edson pedestal guard to their Yachting Specialties pedestal? The Edson catalog has a 5" and 6" mounting plate and I'm not sure which to order. Any other hints or warnings.

Make sure

the holes you drill in the cockpit floor are sealed correctly. I have a soft spot in the floor now from the previous owners' installation. I have sailed h27 w and w/o pedestal guards. They do take up some space in the cockpit.

YS Pedestal Guard

Which plate...

Fred - thanks for the picture, it looks good. But, do you recall which size top plate you ordered for the YS pedestal?

Glenn, to my knowledge there was only one size for the YS top plate. I just ordered the one from Holland Marine and it fit perfectly. Regards, Fred.
