I would like some suggestions or ideas about locating ready to fit acrylic hatch boards. I believe I could make them if need be but have no idea where to locate the acrylic. Once I get this project completed I'll turn my attention on setting up some way of screening the opening as well, so if you have ideas for that one too please share.

Acrylic Hatch Boards

I can't help you with the acrylic hatch boards but can with a bug screen.

This is a very simple mod. I purchased a small piece of peg board from Home Depot and cut it to fit the grove in the hatch. Your just duplicating the pattern of your hatch boards.

If storage is a problem (I just slipped mine under the bed cushion) you could cut it in the middle and hinge it. That took care of my ventalation problem on hot nights in So Ca. Bugs really arn't a problem out here but to solve a bug problen you could merely purchase some mosquito netting and staple it to the peg board.

you can find it here

In Daytona beach there is a place called surplus unlimited, they have a web site, I have been there many, many times. They stock all of that stuff and a warehouse full of surplus boat parts and equip. Give them a call or just google them, they are very helpful.
If you can't get them let me know and I will dig out their business card.
surplus unlimited.com

I would like to do the same thing but be sure you are sitting down when they tell you how much it will cost.

Good luck, Dean

Re: you can find it here

Thanks, found the website and sent an email. Now I'll see what they offer.
BTW, seems like I keep running into things I need to replace since my boat has been laid up for over a year by the former owner and she took on lots of water via the windows.
Do you know of a source for the square interior cabin lights? I had these same lights in my Hunter so they would seem pretty standard but I did not see them in the "parts" list.

George

You might want to consider acrylic doors rather than hatch boards. I have doors that swing out (like French doors) that replace the hatch boards. They are great, no hatch boards to store and so much easier to store and use. Plus, you can see throught them when closed, even though they have the very dark tint.
