So the boat is out of the water and I found no zinc on the keel. Does anybody with P26 have Zinc on the keel (or any other part of the hull)? Should I attach it even if it was not there? Thanks. PS. Gee, looking at the forum, it looks like I make most of the noise. I hope I do not annoy anybody.

No zinc needed

You dont need a Zinc. the P 26 has a cast iron keel. The motor is always tipped out of water except when running. Second you only need a sacrificial zinc when 2 dissimilar metals are in salt water to set up electrolysis. with the P26 this is not the case. If you plan to leave an aluminum outboard prop in the water at all times you would need a sacrificial zinc on the prop. Zincs are mostly used with inboards where you have a lead keel, a stainless shaft and bronze prop 3 different kinds of metal. Electrolysis would than attack the least noblest metal which in this case would be the keel. A zinc would be used here . Bob Fox 1975 P26 #76 whitecap Marblehead Ma

I have brass thoughhulls and cust iron keel

and they are connected via grounding wires. So they are dissimilar and connected. I feel like I would want to add zinc somewhere.
