Thank all of you who responded (3) with advice about how to get my 26x to sail properly. I am wondering if the fact that the sunshade was up would add to our problems? In answer to another question, we were sailing about 30 degress off of the wind, but still were being blown sideways because of not enough forward motion to have control of the boat.

Sailing problem

Hey, Just wondering if your centerboard is definately down? Assuming you have a full ballast tank, rudders down, and engine up, you should be making decent headway in 10-15 knot winds. Lateral drift is generally related to the centerboard. The mac isn't a great sailboat, but it sails well and you can't beat the power/sail combo! You might want to subscribe to the mac26x listserve. There are a lot of knowledgable mac sailors to help you out with any issue. Kevin B Newmarket NH
