Most or all H26's came with a tiller. Someone added a wheel to mine but there was no place to sit. I found a nice seat on craigslist, bought a couple of mounting brackets and drilled me some holes
It is a world of difference from standing up all the time.

If you have the original bill of sale and /or dealer sticker , who was the dealer?
Is this a regular wire steering or a push pull style?

Most dealers and owners never put wheel steering on but American Marine & Sail Supply did

I don't have the original paperwork or history of this boat.
The steering works via two heavy cables that run from the wheel mechanism to a kind of quarter wheel connected to the rudder.

Nice. I can't imagine why the PO who installed the wheel didn't put a seat behind it

It makes a world of difference. Standing with the back rail at around knee-height and no backstay to lean on I never felt very stable before.

That looks awesome. Question..... do you have to remove the seat to lift the gas can locker? It would be mighty nice to have a wheel instead of a tiller.
anyone toss out a guess as to how much that would cost?

Lastly.... love that you have your dog secured with a leash. we have 2 on board and my dog can get pretty adventurous. She cannot follow me around the boat when things are sporty.

We used to take the two Elkhounds for rides in my '68 Firebird convertible. Always tied the leashes so they could not jump out. We left a trail of fur behind wherever we went :)

The seat is removed with a pin so I can access the gas locker below. The puppy leash was suggested by someone on this forum and works great.
