I am considering repainting the non-skid areas on the bow and along the gunwales of my 1980 C30. I'm wondering if I need to add the special, non-skid pebbles available from the paint company to paint the existing, molded non-skid surfaces.

I would use gelcoat

I would buy gelcoat that matched the original color. Buy waxed gelcoat so it hardens in the air and mix popcorn with it. The popcorn is a non-skid additive that is mixed with the gelcoat to make a non skid texture. Minicraft has everything you need to do it. Sand with 80 grit until the old texture is gone and roll on the new gelcoat and popcorn mixture. You may need to thicken the gelcoat a little with fumed silica. (cabosil or aerosil)Add a little talc to knock down the gloss if you want. That's my 2.5 cents. Dan www.minicraft.com

There are many products available

There are many products available, but the one that works best, imho, is Kiwi Grip. It is a simple roll on product with a textured roller. You can complete the whole boat in a day.

Interdeck

I rolled on Interdeck with a small roller on a clean surface. The taping, painting, and clean-up was done in a day. I'll touch it up after I wear it out a bit. It comes in your favorite 4 colors.
