Tachs
I have a 2QM15 and the Yanmar manual allows for two tachs - (i) a sender unit that senses gear RPM and (ii) an electrical pick-up off a specific alternator. Other 'fixes' will need to be calibrated (since shaft RPM is not engine RPM) and maybe risky in a marine environment. For my engine, the Yanmar 'standard' tach is the sender unit setup. The wiring is usually already in place with the engine's wiring harness (check the color coded wires vs. the manual). So all you need is the gauge and sender. I think this should not exceed ~$300.My suggestion - read the manual for your engine and then call Torreson for the parts.
