Hunter 170 Little Rock, AR
I've just recently purchased a hunter 170 it's brand new but a 2002 model that my dealer had. The boat has been sitting in the same place uncovered since new. I noticed around the rubrail, and also around some of the fittings that there are some small cracks. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their hunter daysailers? Also the floor of the cabin is not as stiff as I thought it would be, it gives a little bit, is that normal? I looked around at some of the other 170's at the marina and many had these same problems. Any info would be helpful.

Hunter responded

Yes I did talk to the manufacturer. Hunter told me that the hull sides were covered under the warranty, but that the topsides were not. They sent me a guide on how to repair the ACP shell and that was about the end of it. Yes, the repairs aren't that difficult, but I still don't think that a boat that has only been used twice should be developing cracks already. It would be nice if Hunter would stand by their products better. I still love the boat, but if this continues, it will be traded and will be my last Hunter sailboat.

Cant blame you. Ive got one only crack Ive had is on the left side (Port side) of the mast step, fixed it and had no problems.
